Studies on the Cultivation of Strawberry as a Second Crop on Paddy

Abstract
|
|
|
In order to find out the effect of the time and method of mulching on the harvesting time and yield of strawberry, a field experiment R-as conducted in a paddy-field of the college, starting from Jul. 15, 1969 to Jun. 5, 1970.
T₃ (Oct. 2 surface mulching, after that Nov. 2 tunnel covering), and T₃ (Oct. 2 surface mulching, after that Dec. 2 tunnel covering), were most early in harvesting time, followed by T₁ (Oct. 2 tunnel covering), T_5 (Oct. 2 Surface mulching, after that Jan. 2 tunnel covering), T_6 (Oct. 2 surface mulching, after that Feb. 2 tunnel covering), T₂ (Oct. 2 surface mulching), and T, (Control).
It was possible to harvest 8 or 10 days earlier with T₁, T₂, T₃, T₄, T_5, and T_6, than T_7,
T₃ showed the highest yield, followed by T₄, T_5 T_6 and T₂, T₁ and T_7 were very little in their yield.
T₃, T₄, T_5 and T6 showed some increase in yield as compared with T₂, but actual income was not in the same order due to the high production cost.
As a result, T₂ treatment would be most benificial for farmers.
